Carmen Smith's
Vision for
Port Coquitlam

Rooted Here. Ready to Serve

I've called Port Coquitlam home for 24 years. I've raised my family here, built a career, advocated for seniors in the community, and spent years working alongside local families and businesses. I've seen what's working and where we could do better.

I'm running because I believe we can protect what makes Port Coquitlam special while planning responsibly for the future.

"By commerce and industry we prosper" is the historic city motto of Port Coquitlam dating back to 1913. Truly capturing how our community grows, succeeds, and achieves financial well-being through business, trade, and manufacturing work.  Where our rivers meet the rails, surrounded by three rivers, mountains, industrial land and farmland. Building Port Coquitlam as a destination, not a drive-through community.

Planning our growth wisely isn't optional; it's how we build and protect this community for the future.

For our seniors.

For our neighbourhoods.

For our future.

Four things I'll work for in our community.

Supporting Seniors

Ensuring those that helped build our city remain active, valued and well supported.

Thoughtful Growth

Growth that respects our neighbourhoods and keeps pace with our infrastructure.

Community Safety

Investing in community policing and emergency services to ensure every neighborhood in Port Coquitlam feels safe and supported.

Support Local

Helping local businesses succeed and making Port Coquitlam a destination, not just a place people drive through.

"Carmen is practical, solutions-focused and knows the best results come from listening, collaborating and working together. Port Coquitlam would be well-served with Carmen on Council."

Teri Towner, Coquitlam City Councillor

"When Carmen speaks at our Tri-Cities Seniors' Action Society events, she speaks with conviction, respect for seniors, and real integrity. Her passion and values come across clearly, and she is very well respected by our group. As Executive Director, I know I can always rely on Carmen to be honest, trustworthy, and to show strong leadership."

Ken Kuhn, Executive Director, Tri-Cities Seniors' Action Society

It is an absolute honour to support Carmen Smith and her quest to represent her community on Port Coquitlam’s City Council. Raised in the Tri-Cities and having called Port Coquitlam home for over twenty-four years, one quickly realizes that Carmen is a catalyst for truth, a champion for the underdog, and a steward of compassion. For all the
time I have had the privilege to know her, Carmen’s personal and professional endeavours have exemplified a passionate and dedicated lifeline to her family and friends, as well as those whom she inspires both within and beyond Port Coquitlam’s borders. Carmen’s grace and reason resonate with calmness, perspective and a voice that will embrace the heartbeat of Port Coquitlam and the
concerns of its citizens. Meeting Carmen, you will find that her personal credo to “Be of Service” reveals a spirit forged in the three essentials of leadership that every community deserves: humility, clarity and courage - it is Port Coquitlam’s great fortune that Carmen Smith embodies them all.
